Miz the Whiz will be all about the Biz!  He's serious!

Gilbert looks like he's been reading Dilbert!  He looks delirious!

One thing is for sure -- this Brewers team is quite mysterious!

Royals starting 45-year old Rich Hill today against the Cubs.

Northside Baseball Cubs site seems to be hoping very hard for Suarez, multiple starting pitchers and bullpen help at the deadline.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

If they need that much, they're toast

How many players have been put under more pressure than miz in their first few games of baseball?

- mlb debut

- skenes matchup

- Kershaw matchup

- all star controversy

- maintain streak + burgers

And he keeps throwing strikes!! Even after giving up an Ohtani-dong.

He's been incredibly impressive to date.

Eventually need to get Myers some work, right?

It's not a Pat Murphy bullpen if all 8 relievers are being used.

This is one of the reasons why I’m a proponent of the 6 man rotation. Get that 13th man on the pitching staff throwing 5-6 innings per week instead of 0-1

During this streak the brewers have been underdogs in the last 4 wins. I also believe they were underdogs in at least 2 of the 3 home games vs the Dodgers and basically a pick it in the other.

Oh…..and we are underdogs again tonight.

Myers is being saved for a situation that hasn’t come up yet.

Like needing to go to the bullpen very early or burning up innings after the team falls behind by several runs.

Or maybe a really big lead late in the game.

But, if you use a six man rotation, when the team has an off day every week, like the Brewers do for the next few weeks, then your best starters will only be pitching once a week.

No matter what else happens the innings for the bullpen will be coming when the Brewers have to go an extended period without an off day, especially when they have the doubleheader in Chicago in mid August.

If we’re worried about pitchers getting rusty if they go too long without game action, we should be concerned about Misioroski tonight because he has only thrown one inning in two weeks.

Rich Hill, nicknamed "Dick Mountain", is scheduled to pitch for the Kansas City Royals against the Chicago Cubs.

Woody and Misiorowski are probably two of our three best starters and those are guys we need to be mindful of their innings anyway if we want to get to the playoffs and have them available. Other than that, we are really only talking about Freddy and that basically turns 12 remaining starts down to 10. That doesnt concern me personally, but that’s a valid concern. I’m high on Cortes and I think it’s likely that he’s better than Quintana down the stretch, but I don’t think there’s a great difference between Priester, Quintana, and Cortes so I’m not concerned about taking away starts from any of them.

im not concerned about the added rest for starters. I do realize the brewers really only went to a 6 man rotation following the covid season and haven’t done it much since, but having MIs and Woody on usage limits it makes sense (to me).

I’m operating under the assumption that Cortes is the 6th starter. If the Brewers decide to move either Quintana or Cortes then I’m less excited about the 6 man rotation. The usage limitations with Woodruff and Misiorowski still exist and would need to be addressed in a different way.

Otherwise known as low-leverage situations - get that, especially now with his rust. When Ashby returned from his paternity leave, I was surprised he stayed up. Seems like 3 long relievers in the pen is . . . ample.

The real crunch is going to come starting August 15 when the Brewers play 18 games in 17 days, including the 5 game series against the Cubs. During that stretch they're going to need everyone on the staff including some use of the Nashville shuttle. Especially because they will be carefully monitoring innings for some of the starters, I don't think we'll have to worry about anyone not getting enough work.

Pressure on the rookie tonight.

No more, and probably less, than he has faced in his previous appearances.

While many fans seem revved up about the 12th straight win, I think the professionals recognize this as just one of 62 remaining games.

He'll be under more pressure if he's called on to start the series opener against the Cubs next week.
