That's a big show of confidence, but time will tell on it. Still love taking this approach with any young prospect. Wish they would have done it with Turang, but he is priced out already and Made's number to do this is well above Chourio's.

Insane if true. Meanwhile Turang is going to get away.

In four years when he's 30 years old.

Pratt is a stud with the glove but there's still some risk in his bat. We've been aggressive with him so you can't just look at the numbers and go "bad" but .221 in A+ at 19 and .238 in AA at 20 doesn't necessarily scream "get this guy extended now."

I don't hate it but there is definitely risk here.

Doubt it. Made has played like 5 games in AA.

Wait until after the season, maybe.

They way Murphy and Arnold have talked about him, pretty clear they are as high as can be on his glove at SS. Which is saying something for such a defensively-oriented org. Think that's what it comes down to, and they'll take what they can from his bat. Pratt was still an above average hitter in AA last year as a 20 year old.

And the Brewers will get an absolute haul and be incredibly well-positioned to replace his production when Turang reaches 30 years of age.

The Hoerner deal extinguished any hope of the Brewers extending Turang.

So if he signs it when does it start?

He isn’t even on the 40 man yet……I’m confused as to the mechanics of signing a guy like this who might not be on the major league team for another year or even 2……right now he is in the minors not costing the parent club anything in salary……are we now paying him the equivalent to major league minimum as he starts his first season  in triple A?

You might not be able to get 1 year of Turang for $50M by 2030 let alone 8.

the day he signs it. Brewers essentially bought out his arbitration years and 2 FA years.

The brewers having confidence in him gives me more confidence in him.

I suppose he’s penciled in as our opening day short stop in 2027.

this also probably firms up Made moving off of SS.

(as far as Turang goes, ya we probably aren’t going to extend or resign him. However no reason to to at least keeping him through the 2028 season)

My assumption is that 2026-2033 are the 8 years with team options in 2034 and 2035.

It could also mean they had extension talks with Brice and finally came to the realization that they were just not going to come to a meeting of the minds…….especially after Hoerner signed his mega deal.

Plus 2 club options. It’s 10 years of control, so arbitration plus 4 FA years.

It's never made any sense at all to extend Turang. I don't know why it's even been discussed.

Pratt’s defense and baserunning are both truly exceptional. So smart. And he has a good eye at the plate. If he hits, it’s a 5+ WAR profile. I’m on the fence only because his EV’s are so pedestrian, but a strong case can be made that we should expect him to be useful in the batters box.

Does he have to go onto the 40 man roster now with this deal, or only when he first gets called up? It would seem to me that this is a major league deal meaning he has to join the 40 now.

I mean it made sense when he was Pratt’s age. It doesn’t make sense now.

Small sample but from what I saw this spring training Made didn’t look all that good at SS defensively.  I think he will be moved to the OF at some point.

I’m genuinely in disbelief at this because there are so many question marks with his bat still but if he has slow developing power like Turang did, then this contract will be a steal. We all would kill for Turang to be on this sort of extension right now.
