Just give him 19 and be done with it

It would look good on him, but they would have to unretire it.

Knew that was coming lol

I'm guessing: 12 or 14.

A single digit that isn't 0 or 1 would be cool but he's not taking 8 and the rest are taken. I guess 4 is available.

4 is retired (Molitor).

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Fun topic and one that always strikes me as curious. I very rarely pay attention to jersey numbers and am amazed at how some peole can remember the numbers worn by average at best historical players when I can only confidently remember one (Cooper Pratt, 12. I think I've got Jeter at 2 and Pujols at 5). What is it about the number that interests or intrigues you?

I only own two Brewers jerseys, and one is a #12 Carlos Villanueva jersey. Always loved the #12. (And was a big fan of Villanueva, such poise on the mound!)

The other is a #30 jersey of he-who-should-not-be-named.

I remember almost every player’s number from 1982, but haven’t paid much attention since. When I see a current player, like Lockridge with #20, I think of the Brewer who wore it back then (which is Gorman Thomas for the youngsters).

I think it comes from the days when the player's names weren't on the back of the jersey. So the number was elevated for certain guys and real die hards just know the numbers for every guy. I'm not so great about remembering player's numbers now, guys need to stick around a while for the number to find a place in to the dark and dusty, cobwebbed attic that is my memory.

Don Sutton part-time as well.

Honestly, I'm not that intrigued by it. Like others, it was more ingrained when I was younger, when guys, especially the stars, were on the roster longer. Used to know the 82 guys by memory. Now not so much, that was a long time ago. I'd even be hard pressed to name every Brewers' number currently.

But I like 14. I was a #14 at mostly SS, but some 3B/2B too. Pete Rose was my guy, the model of hustle - every play, every day. Seems odd that 14 is a little uncommon. Would just like to see a star player wearing it for MIL. Last I recall, Mona was issued it. Like I said, maybe it will land with Made, that would be great too.
