Are you sure?  The other Ruiz is listed as a 2B at 4.7 unless they have the positions incorrect but it is impossible to tell which one is which.  Everything I have seen Esteury Ruiz is listed as an OF and not an INF.

Yes, I am sure. Esteury Ruiz is listed as a 2B in their system.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Gasser and Ruiz are legit prospects that will be top 10, if not top 5 in our system.

I expect the Brewers to make several more moves before the dust settles.

This is where I am too, there's no way the FO are sellers so there's more to come. For me, even if this trade is judged without considering other moves I trust that the FO knows what they're doing.

I had half jokingly told my brother last night I hope they trade Hader this deadline, not because I don't love having him but so that we got good value for him while his value was at it's peak. His little blip downturn didn't hurt his overall value, closers blow saves, it comes with the job

FWIW, ESPN lists Esteury Ruiz as a 2b (albeit the kind who’s only played in the outfield with the Padres this month)

I think what's throwing people off is that Ruiz has been resurgent this year, and that they got a MLB closer back.  Gasser is a good prospect and is touted as having back end of the rotation potential.  Ruiz seems to have restored some of his prospect value back if you read about the work he has done at AA in terms of not chasing pitches.

this year in the minors, esteury ruiz has stolen 60 bases in 69 attempts. the brewers haven't had such a prolific basestealer since jonathan villar, and before that, scott podsednik.

There is no way the Ruiz the Brewers received is only worth 0.2. Don't mind giving Ruiz a shot at CF but will see if he last beyond Tuesday.

Ruiz probably replaces Davis on the 40-man and on the active roster.

Either Davis is removed or Alex Jackson/Pedro Severino.  I think Jackson is probably the most likely candidate.  Hiura being traded is also a strong possibility.

As for the trade this wouldn't be accepted on the BTS.

Seems very underwhelming but I am guessing the Brewers are high on Gasser and Ruiz.

I think you have the wrong Ruiz.

Hmmm the MLB site has him listed as an OF in their system.  Still it only brings the value up to about 11.

For the remainder of this year, Rogers for Hader is about as even a swap as you could possibly ask for...

Lamet is an interesting option to throw into the back of the rotation mix (or bullpen)...

Makes me wonder if his inclusion may allow for someone like Lauer to go in another deal...

It is hard to tell which one is which as the MLB site has him as an OF so I went off of that one.

I understand.  I have him in fantasy so I was aware that he had played a lot of 2b.  The OF is Agustin Ruiz, who is strictly an OF and not much of a prospect at all.

Brewers about to turn over their major league roster in a pennant chase? Interesting...

Hope the Brewers see something they can fix in Rogers. He's been really bad in July. Might be some bad luck in there.

I would assume Limet is to even out the salaries a bit. Padres are already over 200 million and a revenue sharing recipient, they were paying Limet almost 5 million dollars to pitch in AAA.

he was a all star last year, maybe a change of scenery is all he needed.

I’m not particularly impressed at first glance, but I wasn’t expecting much either. With Hader’s meltdown in July and upcoming free agency at the end of 2023, we weren’t exactly in a position to ask for a king’s ransom.

Gasser certainly top 10, Ruiz will depend on your scouting service of choice IMO.

*edit*

Honestly Gasser might be the top pitcher in the system now.

It appears both will slot into our mlb.com Top 10:

I think this will eventually end up being a more popular trade than it is right now. Rogers and Lamet are 2 guys who will help out the bullpen immediately, and both have elite sliders, one from the left and one from the right. Throw in LHP Gasser who can potentially go right to Biloxi, and Ruiz who's power/speed potential is tantalizing, I think the Brewers did about as well as they could have to both plan for the future and potentially strengthen the big league club overall.

What if the Brewers are just shedding payroll to pickup Ohtani or Soto?  Would be an interesting strategy.

If Stearns can somehow pull off that miracle, he’ll deserve to be in the hall of fame even if he achieves nothing else for the rest of his tenure.

Ruiz has some eye-popping MiLB numbers.  Wonder if the plan is to give him Davis' roster spot and be willing to be patient with his development during a pennant race, or stash him in AAA?  Either way, you have to believe he will either be flipped or one or more of our three outfield prospects who were supposedly all reporting to Nashville tomorrow for their AAA debuts are instead going to be part of another deal.

Gasser's another low to mid 90's guy, in his first full season of professional ball.  Doesn't blow me away, but our pitching prospects are very, very weak.  He's immediately among our top five, perhaps top three.

Hader's struggles over the past month made me believe Devin was set to be our closer.  Still, even the most pessimistic on Hader have to believe this is a big hit to the pen overall.  Hope to see some more bullpen shake-up, and hopefully a reliable addition or two - Rogers hasn't been great despite racking up the saves, and Lamet is at best a Generic Bullpen Guy and at worst a DFA waiting to happen.
