Mitchell’s is probably a good situation.  It’s his non-throwing shoulder and his trail shoulder for batting.  Most hitters that have this problem (Tatis, Sexson, etc) it’s their lead shoulder, and even a check swing can flair up.  I sublexed my left shoulder and couldn’t raise  my arm over my head for several weeks.  The only time I have issues 17 years later is if I play softball or whiffle ball and let go early with the right hand to reach for a pitch I had committed to.  For golf it’s no problem and I still hit it over 300, but in golf we never let go with the right hand

Yikes. That sucks for him. Wishing a speedy recovery.

Unfortunately it's as I thought, it's such a shame but he's likely hurt his rotator cuff on the slide, which causes the subluxation and damaged labrum on the throw. He needed the AB's to sharpen his approach and this must be gutting for gim

Just the latest example of why I never spend a lot of time focusing on what to do with too many players.

In the off-season we thought the Brewers had great depth in the starting rotation and outfield and that depth has been eroded already.

I’ll leave it to the people who follow the minor leagues closely to suggest what the best moves are, but if Frelick is a real prospect it would seem that moving Mitchell and/or Woodruff to the 60 day IL and adding Frelick to the 40 man roster would make sense.

With no mention of Taylor that I’ve heard for weeks he can’t be close to returning.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Frelick just hit the IL himself, but seems minor.

It will probably be at least a couple of weeks for Frelick since he is on the 7 day IL and then will probably need a few games to get going again.

At least Wiemer will get plenty of opportunities as there are no better options in sight.

Not ideal obviously, but Mitchell was due for big-time regression with his K% and GB%.

Just means it’s Frelick szn (when he gets of the IL obvi).

Taylor has supposedly been playing games in Arizona and will be headed on a rehab assignment soon.

Frelick is on the IL currently with a sprained thumb. Would imagine Taylor will be ready before Frelick.

Well, hopefully he starts hitting...because he is setting a really low hurdle to clear.

I love how the article on espn said "The first-place Brewers haven't had much go wrong, but now they will move forward without the upbeat Mitchell"

Let's see...Ashby, Taylor, Houser, Woodruff, Varland, Urias, Mitchell all on the IL who else am I missing?  Oh yes, Burnes' pec strain. Yeah that's not much wrong at all.

I stopped watching Sportscenter many moons ago, then was flipping around one day just as it was starting. Thought I'd give it a try. I made it through maybe 30 seconds of self-promoting & "everyone listen to how clever I am" preening from whoever the host was before turning it off.

I watch ESPN if there's a live event I want to see. The rest of their programming is painful.

There are obvious holes to Taylors' game but this is why he's a little more valuable than many realize. Wiemer looks OK in CF. In RF he's terrific. Same with Anderson in RF as opposed to 3B. Miller didn't make what was an admittedly tough play tonight playing 3B, and it cost them. Taylor (if available) keeps other folks where they belong if you want your best defensive team out there.

Sounds like TT will be available before Frelick. Watching this unfold will be interesting.

Oh no arguments from me on that. I use their website mainly because their box scores format and load decently. Sports center once in a while I’ll watch and usually come away with affirmation of why I seldom watch it. I do sometimes get pulled in if a Brewer makes a great play, to see  If he’s in the top 10.

Speed is his calling card so there is that.

So far the pundits haven’t been wrong about Mitchell.

Has potential to be a good player but is seemingly hurt all the time. Between COVID and injuries he’s played in 160 games since leaving UCLA 3 years ago.

Great opportunity for Wiemer though, will get to learn on the job as there aren’t many other CF  options right now.

Am I a bad person for wishing we could demote him to the minors before going on the IL so he doesn't burn service time? I'm sure that's against the CBA.
