This is truly unbelievable

I don’t ever recall this many starting pitchers on one team having injuries

How on earth is Milwaukee in first place 1/3 of the way into the season?

What are our options?

When will Junis & Ross be available - & stretched out?

So 2026 for Gasser.  Padres win the Hader trade.

In all seriousness,  I'm hoping and praying its not a UCL/Tommy John thing.

How often do these early diagnoses result in anything other than surgery within 12 months? Not being pessimistic, just curious on other’s perspectives.

Didn't Gasser have some bone spurs or something he was pitching through? Wonder if this is related to that and not something new? That would probably be best case, just something they have to manage with extra rest, skipping starts, etc.

Didn't the Rays in 2023 lose Shane McClanahan, Jeffrey Springs, Drew Rasmussen, and Shane Baz last year? They at least had oft injured Tyler Glasnow for a career high 120 innings last year though.

Hader is with the Astros now because Padres were not impressed either.

This is precisely where my brain went. It's always rest, second opinions, and then surgery.

All of this plus possibly Gasser now.

I know there was not enough work done on the rotation in the offseason but seriously who could have seen this coming?

Who's next after Gasser? Chad Patrick? Ashby? C-Rod? Can Junk or Stallings eat innings?

Not really. The Padres just weren't willing to pay him what he was looking for, in free agency.

That’s been my experience.

They don’t look for a second opinion if the original diagnosis is that it’s no big deal.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

In recent years, it seems like there are a handful of instances where these things end up not being TJ-worthy, so I don't know that this is 100% TJ (granted, I cant cite any examples).

I'd put it at about 78% chance TJ is required.

I mean, as someone else mentioned, Gasser himself, this season, had elbow issues that didn't require a Tommy John surgery.

He had bone spurs early this year and I was surprised he was back pitching as soon as he did.  Perhaps this is the same thing/recurrence.

This makes me nauseous.  I really hope it's not Tommy John, but if it is, can we please not put off surgery and prolong the recovery time!

Sucks. Just would be nice to get Junis back. Even Ross - who I think is thoroughly mediocre.

This is likely an unpopular opinion, but I would bring Misiorowski up and see what he can do. Yes, he has walked far too many people in the minors. However, all of his other peripheral numbers comparable favorably to Paul Skenes, including his age. One argument for bringing Skenes up now was the finite number of 102 mph fastballs he has in the holster, so why waste those fastballs in the minors? I think the same argument could be made for Misiorowski. Besides, can he be any worse than Joe Ross or Jakob Junis?
