I wonder if MLB is regretting not adopting reseeding after WC round. To have one of CLE, CHA, TEX or HOU destined to play in the ALCS is just a shame. (As of this morning, BOS could still move down to third WC and thus make its way over to the junior-junior circuit, but that is very very unlikely.)

I'll bet he does some soul searching this offseason and comes back much stronger next season. You don't grow up with a HOF father in these clubhouses and not understand the value of performing for your teammates and giving your best. I think he has succumbed to the same affliction as many stars this season and has had his power sapped by ABS+Tunnelling, and has struggled to adjust. Say what one will about the state of the American League, but that's a really tough division with some serious pitching from Tampa, Boston, and New York.

Can you explain this? Has ABS affected hitter's power? More borderline strikeouts due to catcher challenge?

Yeah, I would like to see them drop down to 6 and play the Braves, then either the winner takes out the Dodgers and we get to try against someone new, or we don't have to face them.

Or, as we know all too well, they have an unfortunate bad break in the short wild card round and they are golfing 4 days after the postseason starts.

Due to the nor'easter, MLB has moved the Cubs-Red Sox game to Tampa on Sunday.

So, Cubs win in Chicago yesterday, travel to Boston for a double-header today, get a day off tomorrow, but then have to fly to Tampa to play Sunday before probably having to fly to San Diego for a WC series on Tuesday. That's...a lot of travel.

You almost wonder if they'd rather just drop to the six and play in ATL instead of SD. Philly doesn't look ready to help them accomplish that, but if they do end up playing the Brewers again in the NLDS, the Cubs will do so having put on a lot of miles.

Arizona's up 5 on SD tonight.  If they hold on, the Phillies should be worried: Arizona will be 1 back of them with 2 to play and Arizona has the tie breaker.
