Looks like it could be a Harrison-Patrick–Stallings day on the mound......either in a big win or a big loss.

If Harrison has another clunker would try to go with Stallings as long as possible. Wilson is coming back soon so can eat innings this weekend.

I applaud giving Harrison this opportunity. We last saw him come out of the bullpen in Cincy and although I believe he faced 4 hitters and didn't record an out, he did return to having very good velocity. That is a potentially promising sign, at least. The team has some leeway now to try a couple things, so give Harrison a couple of starts and see if he can take the next step after getting his velo back. He's earned some equity by being the unquestioned #2 starter for 80% of the season. I admit it's going to be hard for him to earn enough trust to use him in the postseason at this point, but give him the opportunity to make it a tough decision.

Super interesting game for Harrison. If he goes off the rails again then maybe you just call it a season with him? IL him and bring Bryse back to eat up as many innings as possible for the remaining week+?

If the velo is there and he throws well, you have to give him another opportunity before the year ends to earn a playoff roster spot.

This is a huge game in my opinion.  If Harrison can get back to where he was first half of the season, I think they have a good shot at winning the world series.  If not, I don't see it happening.  I think our SP is too weak with either Gasser or May as our #3.

Quiet things that could get louder:

1.  [NLDS]  Jesus Luzardo, one of the Phillies' Big 3 starters, was just placed on IL.

2. [NLDS]  The Cubs bullpen continues to be absolutely awful.  Local press has all but written them off.

3. [NLCS]  Blake Snell, one of the endless supply of all world starters for the Dodgers, was removed after 1 inning yesterday and has a left groin issue.

4. [WS]  One side of the AL playoff bracket will be a pillow fight between teams who are all about .500 (Guardians/ White Sox/ Astros/ Rangers), one of which has to be in the ALCS.  An upset there and the NL team will be a big favorite in the WS.

It really doesn't matter. Let guys start getting some rest and be healthy for the playoffs.

The only playoff race still left is for the #1 seed. Bye is a given at this point, and that's the most important.

Also, have we not realized by now that the "punt" lineups often win?

Agree. Despite going 0-4 in retiring hitters his last time out I thought things looked a bit better for him. It's nice that he has another couple chances to see if the ship can be righted. Last night Dillard mentioned about the depth of his slurve & how it seemed to be much flatter than earlier in the season. Something to watch.

Garrett Stallings has put up some gaudy numbers in his time with the club. Maybe a darkhorse for a roster spot if there are lingering issues w/Anderson or Wilson? I doubt it, but...........

This is much better than the Sunday lineups earlier in the year.  Still think Lockridge would have more utility than Naylor, who is getting his second start of the month and played like an inning of first in the 20-0 game.

We will find out……or it might be just because he has dominated the Pirates this year…….

"Yes" to both?

I'd say they're workin' on it, may very well have a handle on what the issue is & now it's a case of whether or not he can execute. I think it may be something related to arm angle possibly brought on by fatigue & he'll either lock in, or it's see ya in '27 because they have other LHPs who have been better recently. It's great that they're in a position to give him another chance or two to find out.

Yep, even the most pessimistic of fans know a bye is a lock at this point. 1 and 2 seed doesn't even matter because either way the Brewers won't play the Dodgers in the divisional round. Get healthy and hopfully  get guys like Harrison right. Naylor is here so neither Contreras or Sanchez have to catch some days.
