Yeah, and to think that can't happen to the Brewers is insane.

The Guardians are a really good team, it can happen to anyone.

Has anybody said that is can’t happen to the Brewers?

Riley Pint the #4 overall draft pick in 2016 was just outrighted to the minors by Colorado. Corey Ray at #5 is already out of baseball. Nick Senzel at #2 is hanging on by a thread. Mickey Moniak #1 is close to a zero war player, Ian Anderson #3 is in the minor leagues with Atlanta.

Brutal draft class. The best player in the first round has been Will Smith who was the 32nd pick

Bradley Blalock pitched 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball Sunday in the Rockies’ 3-2 defeat of the Padres.
Blalock needed one more out for his first major league win; he was pulled from a 1-1 game in the top of the sixth before the Rockies came through with two runs in the bottom of the inning. As it turned out, Angel Chivilli got his first MLB victory instead. Blalock, who was acquired from the Brewers last month in the Nick Mears deal, has performed well in both of his starts for Colorado, giving up four runs in 11 1/3 innings.

Former Brewer farmhand Bowden Francis @CHC goes 7.0 IP/7 K/0 BB/3 H/0 ER.

If you don't remember, he was traded along with RP Trevor Richards for 1B/(turned RP in his playoff clinching last Brewer appearance) Rowdy Tellez.

Least importantly to everyone but me, his 33 point waiver wire pickup performance against the Cubs dropped my fantasy magic number from 3 to 1 with 2 matchups to go.

Bryan Reynolds, Pete Alonso, and Bo Bichette were all drafted in the 2nd round that year. So there were good players available.

I see that Austin Riley is out with a broken hand. Looks like he wouldn't get back until the playoffs if they get in.

Kind of like him he's a bit of an old school player.

Corbin Burnes in the 4th round was also a good pick I guess and David Bednar in the 35th round is good too I think.

A quick edit Josh Lowe is also a good pick by the Rays but that was in the first round.

If you want to watch an extremely frustrating offensive team watch the Mariners.  If that team had any kind of offense it would be a really good team.

This the Mariners team slash line .216/.302/.367.  If the Mariners didn’t have the pitching they have they would be a horrible team.

I appreciate Power Rankings don’t matter. Still, how does Milwaukee rank behind Cleveland this weekend?

I think that the national baseball community --- just like many of our very own posters --- do not, even now, believe that the Brewers are actually good. I mean, I'll admit it. Imagining this team challenging for the best record in baseball?? Really??

Sean Murphy and Zac Gallen in the 3rd, Shane Bieber in the 4th.  Injuries derailed his career, but Tony Gonsolin was a heckuva 9th round pick for $2,500.

Would have been something if the Brewers could have gotten Gallen or Bieber in addition to Burnes.

Kind of interesting that the “can’t miss” type prospects in the first round all mostly missed and the draftees who became real players were all much less heralded.

Doesn't help them when their only real offensive star, Julio Rodriguez, has been injured a lot this season, plus, when in the line-up, has completely gone in the tank.  I have to guess his offensive woes are completely related to his injuries...

At the end of the day, the biggest issue with the Mariners is that they are trying to compete with a payroll that is about the same as the Brewers. They have done a good job at building a strong minor league system particularly on the pitching side. But they throw around money more freely than the Brewers and the result is that they have been stuck with some bad contracts and they don't have the payroll to spend out of it.

If you follow Mariners fan threads, the common theme that you will see is cheap ownership, as they have consistently ranked as the most profitable franchise over the last several years and have made the decision to not increase payroll during the current competitive window. It sucks.

On the Fox post game show Saturday they mentioned how little talk the Brewers were getting for how good they've been. It lasted about ten seconds then they moved on to talk about something else. They are one of the most overlooked great stories in baseball and have been all year. Hell they could win the World Series this season and all people would talk about is how the Dodgers and Yankees blew it.

The Braves signed Gio Urshela, or as I expect him to soon be called, "World Series MVP Gio Urshela." You just know he will mash in Atlanta.

I predict the Brewers will be "respected" in the same way as the Rays and Guardians come this time next year.
