Saurez is going to look amazing hitting bombs in a Brewer uniform.

So is Naylor! Go get these guys, drop them into the heart of the lineup, play the matchups, and LET'S GO!!! 🥳🏆

Best record in baseball on July 20…and it is largely because of young (cheap) talent that doesn’t even hit arby for a couple/few years.
Incredible.

I’m feeling greedy…let’s win 100 this year.

Brewers would need to go 40 W - 22 L to hit a hundo.

Over their last 62 games they’ve gone 41 W - 21 L.

So what you’re saying is… they’re going to win 101.

You're ignoring the fact that @sveumrules thinks the Brewers are gonna somehow lose 22 times. The optimism thread is not the place for that kind of negativity.

Now that we passed the Cubs, it is time to "lap" them!  I'm not sure what that means in the context of a baseball record, but it sounds fun!

Eliminate them by the end of august?

Brewers do play them next week, so if they keep playing this well vs Sea and a poor MIA team at home, then sweep Cubs or at least get 2/3 they could all of a sudden be sitting on a 3-5 game lead into August.  Of course there would still be a lot of games left, but that would be a nice pole position to be in

The NL East is a mess.  MIA is in third place?  I had seen they were in third place, but then realized they are still 7 games under 500.  Wow...

I think it’s mostly that the Braves are a mess. If they were in the thick of the Wild card, the perennial sucktitude of the Nats and Marlins wouldn’t be that notable.

When was the last time the Brewers had the best record in MLB this late into the season.

1982 was what I've seen reported.

Yeah, checking McCalvy's article again that's what he said. I initially thought we had never had the best record this late. Maybe we haven't gotten to 60 wins this quickly before? Or just completely making the memory up. :)

I bet they did in 1987

I did a little rudimentary research this morning, but the closest possibilities I could find were in 1979, when they had close to a .600 winning percentage late in the season, but that year the Orioles won 102. Then, similarly in 2011, the Phillies still had a better record on their way to also winning 102.

I didn't do any deep dive or anything, so there could be other seasons.

edit to add:  I'm guessing this year's team will win 117.

They were like 20-3 in 87.

They haven't had the best record in baseball in the second half since 82, I believe.
