I'm going 88 for this group.  It's going to be an interesting season but I do think starting pitching will have a lot of guys in and out of the rotation.

So there's a mean and a distribution. I'd pick a mean in the mid to high 80s.  Then how reliable do you think that is? Something like 5-10 teams are off from predictions by 10+ games each year. (We are often one of those, 10+ above.)  So, what, something like 30% change in the range 85 to 89, 20% chance 90 - 94, 20% 80 - 84. I don't think any number 82 to 92 would surprise me at all. Then maybe 10% 95+, similar chance of 72-79, and another 10% of total disaster, fire sale in the summer.

But maybe that's too optimistic or narrow? Could make a case that our error bars are pretty big, since so much rests on return to health of key veterans, improvement of younger players. Woodruff comes back strong, Chourio is the guy we saw second half and in spring training, Yelich is old Yelich but healthy, someone like Dunn steps up on the infield, and we look pretty tough. I think we have a pretty high floor with good run prevention and depth, but it's not hard to imagine some key injuries and young guys stagnating and faltering either.

I'll go with 90-72. The division comes down to the wire between MKE and CHC with Crew winning it by 1.0 game

84-78.  Chourio, Hoskins and Mitchell are bright spots, but starting staff is subpar and our luck runs out in the bullpen and we lose alot of 5-4 games.

They almost always over-perform the projections, often by double-digits. Talent-wise, the team seems just about the same as last year (subtract Willy and Williams, add Woody and incremental improvements from some positional players), while the rest of the division might have improved just a skosh. Add that all up and I’ll say 90-72.

I like the idea of error banding this thing, too, so +/- 5 wins wouldn’t shock me, though 85 wins or less would be a considerable letdown in my estimation. They have me conditioned to the idea that somehow, someway, they will get to 90 and make the playoffs, as they are a well-run organization. A rash of really bad injuries, though, would be a killer, as I fear the depth is a bit more questionable (especially the pitching side) than we’ve seen in a while.

If I was putting money on a win total, though, 90 would still be my pick.

95-67.   It'll be win it for Uecker all season. Chourio is League MVP.  Yelich is a full go with his back and finishes 5th in MVP.

The team's bats are over .66 runs per game better than last season.  The pitching has more vets to keep any losing streak from being more than 4 games.  What a season this will be. Uecker approved

Wow, what an optimistic bunch! Last year, Homer said 162 and I said 90. No one else was over 89. Now we have almost 20 people predicting 90+

Let's go!

I will, of course, save these predictions to a spreadsheet for the end of the year.

Brewers win 90 and barely take the division in a squeaker over Chicago.

Monster seasons from Chourio and Contreras.  Woodruff wins at least ten games.

Mitchell stays healthy and puts it all together.

Hoskins is better than last year, but still not great overall.

Megill saves 40.

The front office has saved some money for the deadline, but still only acquire an undervalued reliever that they turn around and a versatile infielder.  We all clamor for them to get a third baseman, but instead they leverage the infielders as a whole playing matchups and the hot hand.

Pirates and Reds make significant strides.  Cardinals flounder all year.

Brewers host the Wild Card Series. We all just wait and see.

Brewers win 100 games this season.

Brewers win the World Series this season.

Rob Manfred is scratching his head on how he let this happen.

League-wide trend is to no longer hire/employ high-priced talent and follow the Brewers model of winning!

A self-imposed salary cap rules the day.

MLB players threaten to strike.

Rob Manfred advises players to get off-season jobs to supplement their incomes!

And, finally Counsell, Stearns, and Adames seek professional counseling!

92-70 and winning at least one playoff series this year.

Welcome to the board!

I'll go 89 wins and that is enough to take the division as the Reds, Pirates and Cubs all are improved but beat up on each other.  I see a team that could be peaking down the stretch as Woody gets healthy and Gasser possibly comes back plus additions of Yoho and Miz to the bullpen for the stretch run and playoffs.

I’m less optimistic than last year, the divisional rivals will be tougher to beat this year and we let some top talent go that won’t be easy to replace.

On the plus side, Chourio alone makes this team worth the price of admission, they seem to have enough starting pitching to get by, and we know they will find diamonds in the rough to plug pitching gaps. But getting to 90 with this roster feels tough. I think they do enough to get a wild card spot though and find a way to win a series or two before losing to LA with some “win it for Ueck” magic.

Cardinals finish in last place and we can laugh at all the empty seats from the “best fans in baseball”.
