Yoho looks like he's straightened things out. It would be wise for him to keep getting regular work, and I don't know if he'd get that in Milwaukee at this point. I was surprised to see Fedde throwing in the BP Sunday after working the day before as I doubt he's used to that kind of schedule, but I think Murphy likes that he's been through the wars & throws strikes. And now Anderson is back. Some unfortunate stuff would have to happen for Yoho to be on a PS roster anyway, and like @tmwiese55mentioned, he can come back sooner now if needed.

Fedde, Payamps, Anderson.......Yoho has more upside than all of them. But rosters are seldom about who the best 26 guys are.

I really feel like Yoho with his adjustment on the rubber is a better major league pitcher than Grant Anderson. Hope the Brewers don't regret this one

Anderson has a 2.87 ERA and 3.67 FIP.  I think you're selling him short.

Yoho might get there, but I would not put him there now.

You may want to take a second look at Anderson's numbers this year. He's been very good.

Doubt the Brewers care if somebody claims Payamps, would save the Brewers money. It's not like a playoff team could use him in the playoffs. Only a matter of time with the likes of Patrick, Megill and Gasser making their way back to Milwaukee.

I disagree. If someone thinks Payamps figured something out at AAA, we could be giving a decent reliever to our competition for free.  I would suspect this is more about what we could give someone than what the Brewers would lose.

Now, granted... he hasn't looked good in two appearances so far.  If that continues then certainly no playoff team is going to use him.  I'm guessing the Brewers will ensure he still looks bad before doing that.

Payamps will get released when Megill and other possibilities like Gasser come up anyway, so might as well as get Yoho's 15 days running early in case you need him at the end of the month.

I'm fully aware of his numbers. I simply want the best collection of pitching talent out there come playoff time and I'd have Yoho (and others who probably won't make the cut) in there over him.

5 losses credited to Anderson don't help his case btw if we're going to make this a stat thing

Rhys is a top notch big league player. Great character & team guy. Listened to his interview online. What a class act! Glad to have him healthy for the stretch drive.

"Potential" is a French word.  It means "not worth a damn yet".

Come playoffs, I'll take production over potential.

Exactly. If this team's management has proven anything, its that they value production. They aren't going to take a totally unproven arm (Yoho) on the playoff roster over someone who has proven themselves, regardless of potential. Heck, like it or not, Payamps is probably above Yoho in the bullpen pecking order currently, let alone Anderson.

I'm not saying Yoho will be on the playoff roster, but I am not so sure team management is staunchly production over potential.  It's a weighting of risk/reward.

If they were strictly production, they wouldn't have given Chourio a huge contract before he even played an MLB game.

Long-term planning is different than building a roster for a 5-game playoff series. You're arguing apples to things that aren't remotely like apples.

Wins and Losses for a pitcher?

-He lost one game vs TB when he gave up an IF GB and Megill came in and gave up the winning run.
-One loss to the Rockies in which he came in, got a K, gave up a GB up the middle(automatic runner scored) and got a DP ball.
-Reds, another extra inning game. Cincy bunted a man to 3B, two intentional walks and another GB to LF
-4th loss to SF with 0 ERs.

So in 3 of the 5 Losses he gave up 0 ERs and in the other, he left 1 man on and Megill gave it up.

I think ERA and FIP tell you a bit more, particularly about a reliever than a 2-5 record.

Josh Hader has had a losing record in 5 of his 9 years....for a point of reference.

Yoho has been up and down 3 times this year and he's had a good game in a 10-2 win pitching innings that could just as easily gone to Bauers.
Not sure I'd trust him in October at this point over Anderson.

That is what I am thinking if we need a guy to eat a bunch of innings Zimmerman is the guy and we can bring up Gasser or someone else tomorrow.

Assuming it's not roster management "injury" I hope it's a dead arm thing vs some type of discomfort in the shoulder or elbow. Given how long he was off I could see the former. If so a break until the playoffs wouldn't be the worst thing.

I’m afraid it most likely is the worst thing. Woodruff and Murphy sounded as if they had been down this road before and neither sounded positive that Woody would be pitching any more this season according to the MLB.com article this morning. With the Brewer pitching staff decimated it will be an incredible challenge to win a playoff series this year. It has been almost exactly 2 years since Woodruff’s press conference explaining that due to another shoulder injury his season was over.
