Did that graphic just show that Contreras is hitting under .220 against left-handed pitching?

Yup.

Contreras vs LHP 2023-24 hit 336/420/570 which shook out to a 169 wRC+ ranking 5th out of 287 hitters with at least 150 PA against southpaws.

This year his 218/373/253 vs LHP entering tonight shook out to an 86 wRC+ ranking 148th of 263 hitters with at least 50 PA vs southpaws.

(& we’re still rolling anyway)

4-0 against the Dodgers.

That’s definitely a thing.

Unlike previous years, at this point we shouldn’t be doubting that we can beat them in a 7 game series.

We’re clearly better than them right now. Would likely be a deep series if we see them in October.

Hard to believe the crew now has the 4th most wins in all of MLB.

We could end tomorrow with the 2nd best record.

Best record in MLB goes back to May 14th so over two months now.

2nd best record in MLB since April 1st, half game behind DET.

First four games in March and first fifteen games in May were a combined 5 W - 14 L, other 78 games they are at 52 W - 26 L now.

Even harder to believe: they now have the fourth lowest Runs Against in the entire League. Wait. Who did we play for the season opening series?

Also, that Ortiz play to end it? Goodness gracious.

That was a heck of a play by Ortiz.

If we go get a shortstop before the trade deadline, Joey will be an exceptional utility infielder & late inning defensive option

IMO the most remarkable thing about Priester's progression is how he had a reputation for, and started his Brewer tenure with, really shaky command and now hardly walks anybody. While his velocity and movement seem to vary a bit from start to start, his command is now consistently good which is a huge testament to him and our coaches.

I'd quite glad we somehow got Contreras and Payamps for Ruiz.

And Justin Yeager who just got called up to AAA and has some really solid numbers in AA

What is Priester's FIP after tonight? Absolutely incredible to see him knock his ERA down to 3:33 in such dominant fashion.

3.95 though I think with the Brewers defense and him being such a good ground ball pitcher that you can expect FIP over-performance. I think after tonight his xERA which factors in contact quality will be around 3.50

I hope that damned pitching lab is out in the middle of a desert somewhere, a mile underground with sensors & fighter jets protecting it. What this organization does with other folks' former pitchers is nothing short of astounding.

Perusing the comments, I'd just like to say that I had zero problem with Durbin bunting. The placement, yeah; that missed. But I understand what he was trying to do & just got it too close to Freeman. He's going to have the type of career where he might go deep or hit one up a gap & then follow it up w/a well-placed bunt, a walk, or even letting a pitch clip him in a billowed sleeve for a HBP. He's made himself very, very valuable.

And as for Ortiz, knowing this organization & what they base success on I'm not sure they'll make a deal involving a SS if they aren't certain there won't be a significant drop defensively. Not saying they should or shouldn't. Just sayin'.

Especially in the here & now with Frelick sitting, it feels real good having Perkins back on the roster.

Sell high on Priester at the deadline?  I got scolded here for wanting to sell high on Joey Wiemer a few years ago, so I’m all ears on this one.

I mentioned this earlier this year that Priester ditched the FB and throws a Cutter. It was something that must have been identified to be a path to success.  Sinker/slider and cutter mixed with showing curveball.  I wouldn't want to sell the high you think he's at.  He's sorta the one (aside from Woodruff) that can give you 7 IP if needed. They didn't need it tonight with a rested bullpen.

Give the Brewers an offseason to craft more between his top 3 pitches. Then see what his high is.

Wow I tuned out of the game thread during the middle of the game. Missed that doozy of a comment. I genuinely can’t imagine how a fan of a team watches a guy pitch like that and suggests trading the pitcher. Also when exactly was the time to sell high on Wiemer? His value peaked before he made his MLB debut as he never looked good outside of his defense during his MLB time.

Cool. Shallow question. I assume most Brewers fans believe they will win. It’s like asking: Do you like your children?

There's obviously bias in the answer, but that doesn't mean it's uninteresting. There are quite visible trends in the data based on how the Brewers are playing at the time. It's more of a morale check than a standard poll question.

In Contreras last ab, the Dodgers announcers said his deep foul ball was 116 mph of the bat. Was that correct or did I hear wrong? If so that might be the best omen from last night.

I wouldn't trade Priester, he is trending towards a pitcher in the style of Logan Webb, lots of value in a grond ball pitcher with a top notch defense.

What would be really cool is to see is:

A: How different cohorts of Brewer fans respond to this poll. Twitter, Brewerfan, BrewCrewBall, etc.

B: How different fan bases respond to this question across the @Brock Beauchamp family of fan sites.

It would be interesting to see how pessimistic/optimistic those different groups are.

I can definitely do B, that's a really fun idea! Probably better to wait until the end of the season, though.
