I understand people want to make a move for the sake of making a move.

Nope. They have holes. This is what's frustrating. Joey Ortiz is not helping you he's hurting you.. Do you trust Nick Mears? Do you like pinch hitting Anthony Siegler?

I have to admit, it's gone so morbid and dark that it's kinda fun.

I talked to a client that is a huge D'Backs fan today.  He is not happy, either, but understands why it is being done.

So we're about to have an inevitable collapse because other teams added fringe players and bullpen arms and we didn't? I would love to get another infielder here in the last 20 minutes, but man, nothing that happened today was Earth shattering enough to get up in arms over, lol.

Last time they spent considerable prospect capital was over 7 years ago when they acquired Yelich.  I guess you could say they are due for a big one but this regime holds onto to their prospects pretty tight.

That wasn’t a deadline deal, either. The value proposition of deadline deals is just so skewed against buyers, and the Brewers brass didn’t get to where they are by being the ones to pay a premium in a deal.

At the end of the day, if Arnold doesn't make a move, I'm confident it's not because he wasn't trying, but he judged the cost was not worth the marginal upgrade. You can have a different threshold than the GM, but getting out pitchforks or saying we're not trying to win or fans that aren't losing their minds aren't real fans isn't productive.

And many of the bigger pieces went to the American League……which is good

Probably in the final minutes of Cleveland picking a Kwan offer.   Let’s see if we succeed…

If we do there will be outrage here at the cost, it will be a long night on BF :)

They must be confirming that Ramirez is ok to waive his NTC before announcing him and Kwan on their way over to Milwaukee in a few minutes - so that all the same posters ticked about not doing anything can get ticked about giving up too much.

Hey @Bulldogboyare you saying that if the Brewers do nothing today they're guaranteed to collapse and have no chance to win it all?

Are you saying that the Brewers have to make a huge deal to add a major piece at the top of the roster or we riot?

I know I sure as heck am not. And I know you're not saying that either.

So what's with all this strawman nonsense being posted here?

LOL anyone want to speculate on what THAT would cost

I can be disappointed if there isn't an upgrade to SS or the bench, but the team made a number of deals to improve already this year, so I can accept that whatever might have been left on the table wasn't appealing.

well its clear that management is playing the long game today. Seemed a good year to cash in some chips but they have proven shrewd, so i trust them. Time will tell if losing a player like Suarez should have put us over the top.

Now onto waivers. Brewers dont have to sacrifice prospects but MA will have to open up his wallet and i expect he will do so, if someone becomes available. Meanwhile, Ortiz gets a little more rope to prove himself and Durbin to solidify his role.

Who are some candidates to become available for a salary dump?
