LOL that was entertaining. And the takeaway that the Brewers are a "good" organization is also cool.

Forfeits are allowed, I guess.

In a game where so much of a player's value is tied to counting stats, I think the Player's Association might fight that.

Not if the players wanted to forfeit. I mean, teams not infrequently play 161 games due to rainouts not being made up at the end of the year.

With the win today the Brewers will officially have no losing streaks longer than three games for the season. Makes me wonder what the record is for the lowest number of consecutive losses for a season is.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I would bet that they would simply cancel one or both games if they have no bearing on playoff positions.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I'm guessing it would also depend on how Arizona does.

Actually, I'm pulling for Arizona to play the Padres in the first round.

This is so sad. It didn't have to be this way. Someday it could be us.

Yes, Arizona’s position is an essential part of the whole thing.

I wonder, though, if they would play those games if the only thing that is undecided is seeding.

For example, if the Mets, win 2 of 3 this weekend, the DBacks beat the Padres 2 of 3, and the Braves get swept by KC, the Braves would be eliminated from playoff contention and the Padres would be the top WC team. Would they play at least one of the Braves-Mets games to decide the 4 and 5 seeds?

I would rather see the Brewers play the Mets than the DBacks too. Winning the series this weekend would be a step toward making that happen.

Fisher has been putting trash on the field for years.

I was hoping maybe there'd finally be some insight as to what happened between JJ and agent39 or whatever number he posted here as.  Of some info on what happened with JJ that caused no team to give him a sniff anymore, but alas all that has stayed a mystery.  Which I suppose is a credit to people keeping JJ's privacy. I just have wondered about it.

It appears that KC has the tiebreaker over Detroit. I hope that KC can keep pace and get the five seed. Detroit is red-hot, and would LOVE to see them take Houston out.

Yes, they definitely would.

I think if one or both games mean nothing they would cancel at least the second game. Likely they'll need to play at least one though given where the teams are at.

Still hoping for this outcome.

Well, Jeffress did have repeated substance abuse issues, and was dropped by the Nationals seeming for conduct issues (ie, personnel reasons).  He claimed he had a bad reputation and it was his agent spreading lies about him, he fired his agent.

His agent seemingly didn’t have many clients, with his career as an agent ending around the time Jeffress was no longer on a 40 man roster and was being sued earlier this year for defamation and fraud by Perfect Game.

Sounds to me like two guys who overplayed their hands  each believing they were bigger deals than they truly were

Cubs beat Reds 1-0 in 1:48. Wind blowing in, two teams going nowhere, fast game.

Got to imagine the strike zone was slightly larger than normal.

Mlb has to be sighing in relief that they dropped the game 163 method.  Imagine one of the Mets or braves having to play a double header today, a game Tuesday and a game Wednesday just to break the 3 way tie to see who makes the playoffs.

Remember what Yoda said:

Giants fired POBO Farhan Zaidi which I think makes plenty of sense, but they hired Buster Posey as their new POBO which feels crazy. I wonder if there's ever been a player only 3 years removed from playing being hired as POBO/GM of a franchise.

Who do they think they are....The White Sox.

Honestly, makes you more appreciative of Attanasio and his lack of meddling.

A POBO with a high school education, no background in personnel, scouting, etc. whose only role with the organization post playing career was minority owner.

Maybe they’re giving him the check book with an edict to go spend and get them out of being a 3rd/4th place team.
