LOL Cardinals intentionally walked Busch who only needed a single for a cycle.  Stay classy St. Louis or is this one of those hidden rules that only the Cardinals know about and enforce?

what a disgusting organization. tony la Russia, wainwright, and Molina all deserve to rot in h*ll

someday there will be an insane 30 for 30 where some horrible stuff happened and was ignored by this classy team.

That seems like just a wee bit of an overreaction. Wainright, especially, as far as I know, is a pretty great human being, regardless of what uniform he put on.

Now Chris Carpenter on the other hand... :)

Wasn't sure where to put this, but a little more clarity on Saturday's start time.

Here is the MLB link with full information for all possible game times through Sunday. The frustrating thing is they don't show the Monday games at all (Game 2 of NLDS).  I wonder if they know the game times for those games and possibly just forgot to include it in the update? https://www.mlb.com/news/2025-mlb-playoff-and-world-series-schedule

It's really odd to me that the earliest game on Saturday would have a different start time depending on the teams.

Yeah.  I really can't make sense of why the changes of the teams either.  Seems like Philly is locked in what I would call the prime time slot.  Are new York and Boston that drastically different in market size?

I don’t think it is market size driven just that the Yankees are well the Yankees.  Sorry not sorry Red Sox fans.  Yankees - Blue Jays is a better draw nationally than Red Sox - Blue Jays.  Surprised the Mariners are not the late option which would make more sense.

Philly's had 31,000 show up to there practice today.  Charged $10 per ticket, all proceeds go to charity. That is cool.

Mike Greenwell passes away at age 62.

Had huge shoes to fill, and he filled them well.  Career .831 OPS and .303 BA.  In 5,166 career plate appearances struck out only 364 times (to 460 walks).  Injuries took their toll and he retired at age 33.

He won't nearly be worth the money he'll demand and ultimately will make from the poor sucker who falls for it.

angels?........ Mets?

he seems to have the personality of a wet blanket.

Schildt retiring due to "severe toll" the MLB season (and managing Manny Machado) takes on a person.  Decent manager, never thought the Cardinals should have cast him out.

Good job knowing the roster is decent and they aren't afraid to spend, or a trap given they traded away their entire farm system?

I know its obvious. But I saw something a few days ago that Dodgers are the likely winners on him.   Conforto flopped for them and his contract expires this year I think.   If I recall the article mentioned how others (even big ones like Yanks/Mets) will balk at the Tucker mega contract because he's good but not thaaaat good so not only do you know the backend will be bad but even now in his prime you're way overpaying him too.  But of course LAD doesn't care about that backend.

On paper Tucker is perfect fit for NYY in that park, lefty to pair with Judge. But I know if I'm the Yankees or really anybody I'd rather have someone like Bellinger on a 2-4 year deal than this guy for 10 years 400 mil.

Tucker may be a tier below the Ohtanis, Judges, and Sotos, but there aren't many in that 2nd tier, either. I think he is worthy of a market-rate deal. Even though he had Suzuki hitting behind him, his BB% really jumped and I'm guessing teams sapped him of his power by pitching around it.

The side-by-side free agent comparison with Bellinger will be interesting, with their different ways of stacking WAR.

It's probably not fair to Tucker, but I think this season in the national spotlight (as a high-profile player that went from one large market to another and is in a walk-year) has, perhaps, thrust him into that Alonso/Bregman/Correa-tier of free agent, where he's "too good*" to sign with a middling organization on a reasonable long-term deal, but not "good enough**" to sign the long-term megadeal with a top-5 spender. He'll end up with one of those phony long-term deals that have so many options that it ends up being a 2-year, $90M deal.

*although he isn't a Boras client, and **he lacks marketability (smile/nickname/star power).

Tucker screams the head scratching what are you doing Angels or Rockies signing this off season.

I despise O'Dowd's, "aircraft carrier" moniker, but in my opinion, Tucker is an aircraft carrier for some mid-tier team --- similar to what a then-injured Yelich represented following 2019. If the biggest spenders pass on him, he's still a good signing for any number of teams looking for a sure-fire middle-of-order bat. The Angels and Rockies certainly apply.

I think that's why he'll end up signing with one of the big boys for a really big deal, because there will be plenty of lesser deals for him to pick from.

This would be just perfect.  Shine that light even brighter on what is wrong with MLB.  Fork out another 200 million contract, and defer 90% of it into eternity.  The fact the Dodgers can even entertain the idea of adding salary is gross, just absolutely GROSS.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Dodgers are expected to pursue Kyle Tucker in free agency this winter.

It’s not a surprise, as Tucker is one of — if not the — top overall option available on the open market this winter. The Dodgers consider their outfield to be an area of need, at least relative to their completely stacked roster, so the two sides linking up would seem to make a great deal of sense. If the 28-year-old outfielder is serious about winning, joining a team that has been to two straight World Series while winning at least one of them, seems like a tremendous opportunity.
