Collins start today?  Even if JC can play.

I think it'd be smart to give him some rest. We need him healthy for the NLCS. I believe in Collins to bring his best. He squared up on that line drive to right field in game one pretty well.

I keep going back and fourth on if Pat should play Collins tonight to give Chourio some rest and get him ready to play the Dodgers (or Phillies if they get it together). We really need him in that series.
Either you have a "meh" outfielder out there OR every time they hit it to left, we have to hold our breath and hope Chourio doesn't run too hard to the ball.

Again,  Collins has sucked since about August.  But Perkins 3 for 8 this post season.

Who would you choose?  Plus Perkins has superior defensive skills.

I haven’t seen anything anywhere about when Jackson “felt it again” but my speculation is that it didn’t occur on that long foul ball in the corner to end an inning, but rather on the double play grounder that Swanson threw into left field.  Jackson had to side-step/hesitate step Busch to avoid getting tripped and that is when I believe that he probably “felt it”.  A hesitation move like that involving some quick semi-unnatural movement would do it, I would think.

But who knows?

My buddy was sitting on the 3rd base line during the game. He texted me this right after Chourio made that 3rd out where he had to sprint straight in to catch it.

I think he is talking about someone playing LF for Chourio. Perkins will be in CF.

Definitely think Perkins should play-- 100%. I was suggesting a Collins, Perkins and Frelick for the starting lineup. I still believe in Collins to bring it. It'd make me feel better if Chourio got some rest for the CS.

At this point I think Brandon Lockridge is superior to Isaac Collins in both defense and offense. Unless we have Yelich out there but he has no arm at all anymore.

Wind blowing in today and out tomorrow is a fascinating one, ideally the Brewers may have preferred things the other way around with Priester today and Taillon's 13th percentile ground ball rate on show, but we'll see what happens.

A small detail on what could be a defining day! Nerves tingling yet for anyone?

In other words Collins would be my last choice.

If his hamstring is significantly hurt, it's not going to get better with a day or two of rest. It would be ideal if they just won today without him and he got a full week off. It'll linger even after that, but perhaps heal to the point he can DH or play lazy defense. He has youth on his side, but hammies suck and they're the kind of thing that heal 95% but go back to 0% if you over-exert while trying to go again. You really need like a good month off at a minimum to get them to where there's minimal concern. I could see it being a non-factor in the World Series if he didn't play until then, but they need him to play.

I think I'm kinda good with Chourio just playing through it. If it goes, it goes. Situation sucks but at that point just use him until you can't.

Doesn't mean that I don't think they can be careful with him if they get a decent enough lead and it's getting late. Just I'd rather not lose while he's sitting on the bench as a precaution.

I can live with either outcome, but going great defense and having 'Reggie' Jackson Chourio sitting on the bench to pinch hit if needed still seems like a trying to win strategy, and not just a hoping for the best alternative.

I think you have to get Chourio's bat in the lineup.

I get nervous about him fielding.

I dream about the possibility of getting 4 days off.

This "not stressful" game will get stressful fast. 2-0 is really nothing. Teams come back from that in 7 gamers all the time. 2-1 playing a game in Wrigley is not a far leap to a Game 5, which I absolutely want no part of. Just TCB tonight and put them down.

Exactly, that's an interesting part about 5 game series.  The 'stress' flips so easily game to game.   Lose this one, all of a sudden next game pressure is all on you to 'not blow a 2-0 lead'.  Then of course if you lose that its all on you in game 5

Ground ball pitcher, what about just Yelich in LF and Chourio DH?  Yeli is weak on D but they have put him out there this year and he's gonna catch what he gets to. And if JC is on "don't sprint" type guidelines is he all that much better than Yeli at D?      Sure would be nice to get the win here and just have 4 days off for Chourio.

With back-to-back games on the schedule (if necessary), this might be one to let Chourio rest.  Let Collins hit lefty against the RH Taillan.

Or at least DH Chourio and have Yeli in LF.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Murphy said it in an interview after the game.

They are going to be dealing with this the rest of the season…….it is what it is.

I would play both with the information I have, but I am way past doubting the team's decision-making (I never really did tbh).

Nonsense. We have been living rent-free there for about 5 years. Seems at odds with this:

"I hate the Brewers. This is not like a cheesehead football situation where I hate the Packers, but I love Aaron Rodgers. No, no, no, no. This is hateful. The Brewers have reached almost Cardinals stature in terms of being hated in Chicago. The Brewers are completely hateable."

Whichever way the wind blows, there you will find Michael Ray Wilbon.

With the Bears they can mostly just look in the mirror. The Cubs are at least a decently competent organization, but the Brewers have almost single handedly prevented them from taking advantage of the Cardinals finally being mediocre. And you know it drives them crazy that it's a small market who they should be dominating because of their supposed superiority.

I’m on the play Chourio in left train. Priester is pitching- hopefully he gives us 4-5 IP. Probably not many fly balls for him out there while Priester is in the game.

if we have a lead, Lockridge defensive sub late

In other news… needing to go back to work after my lunch break is going to be a daunting task. I won’t be able to focus on much of anything.

I guess I don't get having Chourio play in LF unless you think him playing the field keeps him in the game mentally for his at bats? Yelich playing in left is a better defensive option than Chourio running at 85% out there. Just flip the two and have Chourio DH ... again unless you think that would alter his at bats mentally. If his hamstring is bothering him the last thing we want is him chasing down baseballs in the gap...

With Priester being a groundball pitcher, and Lockridge as an extra sub possibly for Yelich late, I would DH Churio if he does play at all.  But playing Collins isn’t an awful idea either
