He probably gets 500, but if slows back down to only being a 30 HR player that still takes 6 more years and he is already 32. On the other hand trying to predict his career trajectory is effectively impossible

They are probably laughing about this in the clubhouse after dropping a 16 spot on the Mets.

If it was against a real relief pitcher like Zimmerman trying to fight to stay in the big leagues then year but it was a joke that guy pitched for two innings throwing 30.

And with how good his swing looked, I'm wagering he's spent some time working on it in the past and it might've been a close call on whether to be a switch hitter or not long term.

But yea, if a non pitcher can pitch then a hitter can do this, the only thing its hurting is his own chances of a free hit/hr

I love how Chourio batting lefty is a crime, but a positional player throwing rainbows to the plate is not.

Let me guess. This guy's a Cardinal fan calling out Chourio's violation of The Cardinal Way.

I do understand this take, maybe not fully agreeing with it, but I do understand what the guy is saying...

I didn't like him doing it, and why take a chance for stat padding away?  He could have jacked a home run, double, or whatever.

Again, I don't really care one way or the other, but I can easily understand how someone thinks this is a bit disrespectful to the game.

My only concern was, "Don't get hurt!"

Otherwise, all in good fun if they've got a guy just chucking up 40 mph meatballs.

MLB has to change the rules again, cause it looks awful for the sport, that apparently, there is such a shortage of pitching talent in the world, that there's just no arms left. It's really, really dumb. Just add two, tree pitching taxi spots on the roster. Daily activation can switch out fresh arms for tired arms, or have dedicated legacy pitchers on the roster. Recent retirees or something... Or at least make position players throw real pitches.

It has to change.

I can't believe there are people that would have this as a serious take. The at bat is meaningless, the Cardinals knew it and so did the Brewers. It's already a clown show. What if the Brewers sent their guys up to the plate and just told them not to swing at all? You don't have to swing the bat in baseball.

The guy that tweeted this was either fishing for engagement (and he won the jackpot on that) or he is a gambler that overinflates every single opportunity for a chance to have a dopamine rush for one one-millionth of a second. And when a gambler loses it's never their fault, it's the player's fault.

More so the point of why is Chourio batting reverse disrespectful, but the pitcher being a 40mph throwing positional player not? I mean, that seems like a wild take. Not to mention when a guy jacks a homer off a positional player that gets a similar ‘disrespectful’ tag to it.

Maybe we just need a mercy rule and allow teams to just quit instead of using a positional player to pitch.

Chourio giving himself a disadvantage in the AB seemed to be more respectful, but I guess that’s just my opinion.

Now, if he would have jacked a homer left-handed, that would have been uber-disrespectful.  Hahahahaha.

I'd l.ike to see position player pitching banned. If you're concerned about wearing out arms, then have an actual pitcher throw 40mph lobs. Either way, you should have to wear it.

What’s a worse look: Chourio batting lefty against a position player or Dansby Swanson taking a monster rip from the shoe tops against  a position player lobbing them in there for a grand slam.

I am guessing Murphy told Chourio not again after the game...yet just laughed it off to the press not to make a big thing out of it.

I mean, as a manager, this could really get out of hand with young guys in a blowout. What would the next "dare" lead to? Very slippery slope. How about if he hit with his helmet backwards? Didn't run at all to 1B? Got a hit and kept running until he was tagged out.  Young males can be extreme idiots we've all seen when egged on by peers if no apparent repercussion or fear of consequence is there.
