I just can't get my head around LA letting us have Skubal. If we get Skubal, we have a chance against them. If LA gets Skubal... They are a 50/50 shot to win the whole thing.

They have as much prospect capital as anyone and just like us... a looming lockout gives them all the reason to go all in for this ESPECIALLY with an aging roster.

I could be wrong... But I think the best we can do here is make sure LA has to pay the heaviest price possible?

I actually think the best we can hope for is Detroit hanging on to him and Mize and those guys not getting traded to a different contender. If we face Detroit in the World Series I’ll live with it 😏

I don't get trade proposals that include guys like Drohan or Henderson. Yeah, obviously Skubal is an upgrade, but assuming they keep pitching well (especially Henderson, since I assume he'd be ahead of Drohan in a potential playoff rotation) he's not THAT much of an upgrade considering the few times he'll pitch and the haul we'd have to give up. Add to the rotation to upgrade it, don't replace a good, young pitcher.

Agreed.  Henderson and Drohan are key pieces of our rotation that are contributing now.

sproat (has potential) but currently is a replacement level pitcher. Because of his potential/control, he might have value for someone else without adversely impacting the Brewers current ability to compete.

i just don’t see Jett or Fischer being contributors to the Brewers, but since they have “top prospect status” might be valuable in giving a different club some “flash” to get a premium player.

No, he’s a two time Cy Young award winner who averages more than 6 innings per start, with impeccable control giving up less than a baserunner per inning over his last 550 innings.

Henderson is terrific, but he’s got 70 major league innings in his career and has never thrown 110 innings since turning pro in 2021.

I agree with you it does not make sense to trade from the major league rotation to get rental starting pitchers, i just disagreed with the magnitude Skubal brings. If he pitched to his norms, just the length he’d add would make the entire staff better whereas Henderson and Drohan present some real serious innings issues in the next couple weeks.

Drohan was just yanked from today’s start without reason yet. Garrett Stallings optioned to AAA to recall today’s new starter Thomas Pannone. Tigers want a young controllable arm in the return for Skubal. I am ready to speculate

Are the Tigers really going to be sellers? They are 5 games back of the White Sox, and 3.5 back in wild card standings. They have been playing good baseball and have a +39 run differential. That seems like a team that could get hot and come out of the very weak AL. I would be pissed if I was a Tigers fan and Skubal was traded with how close they are.

Yea I think that would be our hope, that they don't sell so he doesn't end up on Cubs, ATL, LAD.    Could also see them trying to middle ground it and repeat two seasons ago (I think) when they traded guys then got hot and make the playoffs anyway.   That's wehre asking for guys like Henderson/Drohan could make sense where they get stuff for the future but still try to make the playoffs now

The issue is they probably have no chance of re-signing Skubal so are you willing to bet on making the playoffs and a run when you're 3 games out of the playoff race? The Angels decided to chase a playoff spot instead of shipping Ohtani out when he was expiring. They of course didn't make the playoffs and now are a lot worse for having not traded Ohtani considering the rumored package/trade from the Rays included Junior Caminero.

I know we're going to have to give up a lot, but...

2025 NLDS pitching:
- Game 1: Peralta
- Game 2: Ashby->Miz (3 IP)->Mears->Patrick
- Game 3: Priester->Mears->Quintana->Anderson
- Game 4: Peralta
- Game 5: Megill (opener)->Miz (4 IP)

2025 NLCS pitching:
- Game 1: Ashby (opener) -> Patrick
- Game 2: Peralta
- Game 3: Ashby (opener) -> Miz (5 IP)
- Game 4: Quintana -> Patrick

---

2026 NLDS:
- Game 1: Skubal
- Game 2: Miz
- Game 3: Harrison
- Game 4: Henderson
- Game 5 (if necessary): Skubal w/ Miz as 1-2 inning relief option

2026 NLCS:
Skubal: 2 games
Miz: 2 games
Harrison/Henderson: 1 game each
Drohan/Gasser/Ashby all available as needed

I know we won a lot of games in 2025, but that was not a pennant-caliber playoff rotation. In 2026 we're going to have some innings limitations to worry about. Skubal is only at 96.2 IP this year, we could ride him hard in the postseason and take some pressure off of Miz by slotting him as the #2.

Miz is an incredible talent but we have no idea how long his current run of dominance is sustainable for. 2x Cy winners do not become available as a rental every day, especially in a year when we have assets that the selling team is interested in. If I'm Attanasio, I tell Arnold to get it done. We can't let this opportunity slip by.

I don’t *want* to trade Pena but in the event that we did use prospects to buy, he would probably be considered most expendable of my top prospects,

It would of course depend on what we are getting. You have to give something to get something. No one is giving us a stud even if a rental for Robert Gasser.

With that being said, I wouldn’t trade Pena for a rental either, no matter how good the rental.

If I had to pin down the max offer that I wouldn’t be upset about, it would be something like Jett Williams, Fischer and Sproat for Skubal, and that still hurts and feels like a lot. Which, it should for someone like Skubal.

That is the exact offer I think we should make.

sproat has a chance to be something special, and Fischer and Williams have strong pedigrees as prospects.  All 3 could become all-stars, and all three could only have a cup of coffee in the majors.

Skubal in the playoffs gives us perhaps our strongest ever 1-2.

that offer would not jeopardize the future.

The closer we get and the more reports we see connecting the Brewers to him the more I am getting convinced we really need to do this. We just had a scheduled loss yesterday pushing back the starts fpr the young guys and we still have to hold off the Cubs. If it happens it may sting more that we expect, not Made as I read the Dodgers won't part with their top 5 guy either but maybe Pena as Dodgers have another guy ranked near him.

For anyone with BTV access who wants to share or just for anyone's opinion, who is the more valuable trade piece, Henderson or Pena?

One of Sproat/Drohan, Quero, Harden for Skubal.

that’s a ML ready SP, and 2 top 30 prospects (11 and 13)  of the #1 ranked farm system.

leta go!!!

Jim Bowden thinks the Crew will get Skubal?? Well then!

I feel like all these prognosticators picture themselves making the deal when what they really need to do is wonder if Matt Arnold would make the deal.

I think that for decades now, front offices and organizations have isolated and controlled their decision-making to such a degree that any legitimately gained information the media throws out there, is nearly as dubious as information that was simply pulled from the internet's ether.

The drive for content and the clicks they generate will absolutely provide enough motive for someone to include the name "Skubal" and "Jesus Made" in the same headline, regardless of how speculative the information.

“If I was the GM, what can I do to generate the most clicks?”
