I will not be sharing my opinion on this trade.  😡🤢

Okay … now you have to … looks like a great trade for a good not great minor leaguer who has several other players above him in route to the bigs

How does a .204 11 HR hitter help us?

Adds power? Isn’t he like 3rd on Brewers team behind Yeli & Chourio? Maybe behind Hoskins too.

Looks like Jansen and the Brewers will have a mutual option in '26 and UFA heading into the 2027 season if I'm reading it correctly?

11 HR in just 211 at bats. Not a bad ratio. Does strike out too much though. Interesting get.

Jansen for Areinamo feels ok. I like Jadher but there was little room for upward mobility and that swing has more moving pieces than Wiemer's!

It also makes sense given Quero's recent injury. Any hope he would debut this year is long gone

I’m good with this even if Areinamo wasn’t pretty much completely blocked by better prospects the level below and above him, I just don’t buy that his swing is going to work at the MLB level.

Some stuff on Areinamo from a month ago, and some of the Brewers internal discussions.

It's the second door phenomenon, because Jansen is more or less a known quantity and we haven't yet seen Areinamo at this level people (myself included) will tend overrate the prospect by pinning them to the maximum outcome as opposed to the most likely one ie. If he even makes it he probably performs not too dissimilar from Jansen, in the grand scheme of things.

I absolutely Love Jadher - this is known. AND, I am very happy for Jadher to get a meaningful opportunity. Good insurance move for the Crew. This is a roster upgrade. And one of my favorite players heads to a good situation. Win:Win.

Jansen is really strong against lefties while Contreras has struggled.

Can we get him to Milwaukee before the first pitch tonight?

130 wRC+ vs LHP gives you some options vs left handers and sitting Contreras more often. For a prospect that was pretty easily blocked and a swing that may not translate. Hard to be mad at an easy upgrade like this

Contreras to the IL….Jansen/Haase until he returns. Three catchers in September.

Doesn't sound like an IL stint is in the cards in the near term

Curt Hogg mentioned that the Brewers said if Contreras goes to the IL it's for season ending surgery. Definitely an OK backup plan if Contreras gets worse. Jansen also has an .840 OPS vs lefties. So it's not the worst move and all they did was give up a guy that by the sounds of it the Brewers were getting frustrated with his swing selection and he wasn't making the necessary changes.

Mutual options are almost never exercised……..he will in all likelihood be a free agent next season.

Yeah we're definitely not picking up a $12 mil option for him. Believe it's a $500k buyout.

By no means is this an earth shattering acquisition, but he should strengthen the position.

This is a side bar topic and I know it isn't a direct correlation.. but clearing out an infielder in Appleton -> I wonder if Fischer starts there and is joined by Made/Pena. It would be cool to have all 3 come up together.

As I posted in the front page report, Jadher is a gamer. He is blocked with Pratt, Pena, Made as the high end prospect, and guys like Quintana, DiTuri and now CJ Hughes with a lot of money invested into them, not to mention Turang and Ortiz already at the big league level, Areinamo was a luxury. His ceiling wasn't as high, but he is a leader on the field, and can play any IF position very well, and has shown the ability to hit through high A and wasn't given the chance to do that a AA yet. He will get that chance, and I wish him luck. I can only hope my gut is wrong but just don't feel or see Jansen as an upgrade but I guess with Quero's injury, there will be no other internal catching options so had to find one elsewhere.

The injury bugs this year in the minors in particular have been so upsetting, they have potentially thrown off a lot of plans for internal solutions (Quero, Wilken, Boeve in particular)

Should be interesting to see how they use Jansen.  He is having a better season than Contreras and with the lingering injury, is likely to outperform him the rest of the year.  I wont get my hopes up, but he really should be getting the majority of AB at C.
