I am going to say Wilken has almost no trade value. I would guess to get a solid lefty like Raley or Minter it would be more like O'Rae and Wagoner. The market is going to have alot of demand so probably not to many cheap steals

Jeferson Quero hasn’t caught since June 26 and Ramon Rodriguez is still injured, so a claim of Haase wouldn’t be a total shock. Of course, we’d prefer to get him on a minor league deal.

Not sure this would look good for the Brewers.  Freddy hs been terrible this year.   Too high of a risk.

Maybe the Brewers know how to use him better than the Mets?  I.e., better understand his strengths/weaknesses, what pitches to call in what situations, how to align the defense behind him, etc.

Or they are willing to weigh an entire career against 3 months of starts. He also hasn't been that bad. He has a WAR of 1.2. Not what was expected but easily in the solid starter category.

I would give aaron ashby his contract is pretty steep the next 3 years for a reliver with our payroll but for the mets his contract wouldnt be bad at all he was lights out last year and is pretty good this year with 3 years remaining after this year plus stearns gave him that extension maybe give ashby,wilken,carlos f rodriguez for freddy and aj minter both on expiring deals

I get the desire to bring him back. Would be a win for clubhouse vibes and a safe bet for someone we can slot in the playoff rotation.

yeah im on board with peralta. Reward a guy who has been thoruhg it as a brewer and they know how to use, unless there are some underlying new concerns they see. They need a starter and unless they get a deal on a Skubal/Ryan/Mize, they need someone else who they feel is a reasonable starter and candidate for a playoff starter

If Milwaukee were to trade for Freddy Peralta, would the Brewers ;receive draft pick compensation next year if he signs a large free agent contract?

I think he would have had to plea for us all season I believe.  There also is the question of a qualifying offer.  Given the season he’s having, I can’t imagine we’d want to be on the hook for $20M plus.

i wonder if Freddy will sign a 1 year “prove it” deal this offseason and try to cash in for 2028 if he can have a better season in 2027

There is no guarantee obviously, but I would have to imagine Peralta would get an uptick in effectiveness having Contreras call his games again. Add in the familiarity factor and I'm also on board pending cost.

Sign me up for this trade. (I don’t think there is a high enough caliber player we are giving up to get a deal done here).

You do this Ryan trade immediately if for some reason the Twins would go for it.  As others have said, I think it takes one headliner better than Quero to make it happen.

What would the additional players have to be if Pena replaced Quero in this deal?

That is PLENTY to give up for Ryan, actually too much.  Have you guys been keeping tabs on Knoth and Burke?  Knoth has been doing exactly what we expected of him when drafted!  He has come back from his lost injury season, and has been an absolute stud!  Burke is our starting 1B/Dh as soon as sometime in 2027.  Also been a stud!  Those are 2 cornerstone type players being traded away for a guy who does not put us in the World Series.

He's a rental.  NOT a chance I am giving up that kind of package for 3 months.

If we had Ryan under contract for 3 years, then it's a consideration, but those 2 guys alone are too much, now we want to throw in Gasser and Quero as well?  Who is our catcher when William leaves?

Ryan is a great pitcher, but he alone doesn't improve our odds enough to give away our future.

Substituting Pena in this deal?  UGHHHHHH!

Ryan has a mutual option for $13M for 2027 with a $100k buyout. Even if the buyout were to happen, he's still arby eligible for 2027, being eligible for free agency in 2028.

Knoth and Burke should like interesting players but I think you have to make that trade for 1.5 years of Ryan.

Unless the Brewers intend to tax their young arms, they have e a critical need for innings. Drohan is at 73 IP this year, he hasn’t topped 55 innings in a season since 2023.

Henderson pitched a career best 103 innings last year and is at 57 already this year.

Harrison pitched 112 innings last year, has 83 IP this year and has forearm tightness already. 
 

Misiorowski pitched 141 innings (including post season), and is at 111 IP now and had arm fatigue.

Peralta would be just want the doctor ordered a guy to take the ball every 5th day and give you 5-6 innings, but probably impossible for Stearns to trade him back and not admit he made a mistake.
