If the Brewers don't win the division I should be banned. However, they will.

What is the likelihood of the Brewers winning 100 games now?  @sveumrules

48 games left, so we would still need to have a .625 W-L% the rest of the way. That's a tall order but certainly doable if they stay hot.

For context, a team maintaining the necessary win percentage over an entire season is impressive but not historic. Most recently the 2023 season had two teams play at about that level or better for the whole 162 game season (Baltimore, .623, and Atlanta, .642)

FYI, no login needed to read this.  For context, it is an interesting piece on clubhouse culture and how Murphy keeps egos "in check".

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Here's a couple ways of looking at it...

The Brewers currently have 70 Wins.

The six pitchers in the rotation - Freddy, Quintana, Priester, Woodruff, Henderson and Misio - have a combined team record of 56 W - 23 L (.709 W%) in their outings.

If they keep that pace up for the rest of the year that would be another 34 wins.

Or, going back to the April calendar flip the Brewers have played to a .636 W% after losing their first four games. Play to that pace the rest of the year and it would be another 30 or 31 wins.

When everyone is healthy, they can play matchups and rotate everyone down the stretch. This is such a good problem to have. The lineup is just going to be more difficult.

Whatever the lineup is, we roll.  They play as a unit.  They bust their butts off and play hard every play.  There is no quit with in these guys until the last out.  It’s amazing!!  The Brewers are amazing!!!

Since May 17th, the Brewers are playing at a .721 clip.  Their record was 49-19 over those games.   So 30-18 would be cooling off from how they have been playing for the last 2,5 months.

Unless I am forgetting someone, Jose Quintana has the worst ERA among active Brewers pitchers. It is also better than the average ERAs of all but one major league team (including, bizarrely, the Brewers).

Don't let this sway you from coming to the ballpark, still room for you to see the best baseball team in the majors, Uecker seats, only $5.

It must have caused no end of ulcers at ESPN to put Milwaukee at no 1.

Lol... The Reds are only two spots behind the Yankees.

Yes I'm sure it did because the Brewers are the vagabond team to the self centered sports royalty media in LA and NY.

This paragraph from above needs repeating (maybe bolded, highlighted, sprinkled with sparkles...) 😄

Quote

Despite not making any huge splashes at the deadline, the Brewers keep rolling and sit at No. 1 for the third consecutive week. Meanwhile, the Yankees, who made a number of moves and were deemed a deadline winner, have dropped five straight games since July 31 and fallen to their lowest ranking of the season at No. 12.

Reminds me of an old song by Asleep at the Wheel.

Be sure what you want is really something you can use
Or you might wind up out there Singing the Blues

So you got to dance with who brung you
Swing with who swung you
Life ain't no forty-yard dash
Be in it for the long run
In the long run you'll have more fun
If you dance with who brung you at the bash.
