And of course we can now hear the story again of Rowdy Tellez officiating Jansen's wedding. 😃

Might as well bring Rowdy back while we are at it now. Team chemistry >

I get that a 26-man move should be easy (sending Siegler down), but what are thoughts about freeing up a 40-man spot for Jansen?

One of the IL guys moved to the 60-day?

Eric Haase gone?

Eric Haase DFA would be my guess

I was hoping we’d be improving our bench. I think this move helps accomplish that. Back up catcher wasn’t my primary concern, but there have been rumors we were looking to upgrade there. I’m into it. Let’s keep going.

Not for nothing... Jadher was slated to be eligible for the rule 5 draft.

Not a chance he'd have been taken, he is far from MLB ready.

Maybe in the minor league phase? Not sure he would have been worth placing in the AAA roster

I don't really get it.  But 80% of the time when that is my reaction it works out well so I will refrain from saying anything stupid.  Go Arnold!

That's what I was thinking... minor league phase.

You read trade rumors and it shows a batting line at 806 OPS since May 11th. Going to try riding a better bat by far of late than Haase and Contreras. I see the comments towards jadher. Seems low ceiling if making MLB at all

Seriously? You don’t think he was one of the 38 best rule 5 eligible guys in the system (or even 28 if you leave spots for 10 minor league free agents or open spots to make minor league rule 5 picks)? I mean he wasn’t a real threat to get taken in the major league phase, but thinking he might not have been protected in the minor league phase is hyperbole in the other direction.

How does a .204 11 HR hitter help us?

His OPS and OPS+ are higher than Contreras.

Needless to say, they are higher than Hasse as well.

I don't see the purpose. Replace Haase? For the 50 PAs he's going to get for the next two months? Sit Contreas more? Jansen grades out as a terrible defensive catcher. Right handed bench power? DH platoon partner in case Hoskins misses more time? Huge home road splits due to playing in a matchbox stadium.

I mean the cost is not great but I don't get the vision.

Haase only has 77 plate appearances so even if Jansen plays twice as much that is like 75 ab's. That doesn't seem like much for Jadher. I get that Jadher is blocked and has some swing flaws.

I doubt that Contreras DH's a lot more because than you are taking Collins out of the lineup and that hurts the lineup. The only explanation to me is that Contreras is going to go on the DL to get right.

I do like Jansen alot and if he plays enough the next 2 months there is some solid upside. If we were to say trade William in the offseason Jansen would be a great tandem with Quero if not to expensive to resign.

Well if nothing else with this monster trade BigRed can't say we are not all in now...

Yeah, uh-huh, we're ALL IN now. Lol (in blue obviously). A move like this makes me wanna vomit. 🤣 We'll forever be branded the prospect hoarders of MLB. Lol

Curt Hogg mentioned that the Brewers said if Contreras goes to the IL it's for season ending surgery. Definitely an OK backup plan if Contreras gets worse. Jansen also has an .840 OPS vs lefties. So it's not the worst move and all they did was give up a guy that by the sounds of it the Brewers were getting frustrated with his swing selection and he wasn't making the necessary changes.

If you check his stats, looks like his swing decisions must not be that bad. Decent to good averages, good OBP's, good #'s in 2B', triples, HR's. K/BB ratios aren't bad. I don't get it. So they overpay for a back-up catcher hitting a whopping .204? Really? 🤮

Over the last 28 days, Contreras has a .598 OPS.

If Murphy is going to hold Ortiz accountable for pitch selection, then he sure as hell needs to hold Contreras accountable.  Jansen isn't a world beater, but Contreras has been pretty bad the last month.

Best of luck to Haase……

I liked Haase, but he even in his limited at bats he hasn't flashed the power and he is striking out 40.3% of the time. I am perfectly fine with this swap. Best of luck to Haase and hope there is a way to keep him at AAA for depth.
