They could probably give us Ohtani for free and still have better World Series odds.

I would still accept, though.

Any chance the Dbacks would trade high on Nolan Arenado? They have Lawlar (on rehab) and LuJames Grover as long term options who are ready. They also could use an OF or DH, since they are in contention and would want mlb players. What about one of Bauers, Vaughn, Mitchell, or Frelick for Arenado. With Lara soon to claim CF that will put a stranglehold on playtime for more than 1 of those 4.

Arenado as a vet would give our young guys some time, fix 3B, and we wouldnt have to pay him alot.

We haven't discussed Isaac Paredes, Brett Baty, or Alec Bohm (playing better in May) in a while.

DBacks are off to a great start this year with pitching reinforcements coming soon (Burnes being one). Unless if they crater over the next month+ I don't see them trading Arenado who's having a really solid season down there.

Paredes would undoubtedly be an upgrade over Rengifo, but I think he's also got another year or two before FA, right? So, I don't know if we'd want to overpay for a guy like that who's going to then block some of our 3B prospects (Jett, Made, Fischer, etc.)?

Baty has looked pretty awful so far this year (yet still performing WAY better than Rengifo), and with multiple years left of control - I'd worry that we'd again have to overpay for him and then he might block some of our prospects coming up?

Bohm - another guy not having a good year and he's actually closer to Rengifo's production thus far than any of these other guys.

In summary - I just don't know if any of these guys make a ton of sense for us?  We do need to upgrade 3B position though....and I'm just not sure what the best way we're going to be able to do that at the deadline this year?

Ummm.  How about Andrew Fischer?

Well, he's in A+ right now. I suppose when he gets promoted to AA (sometime this month) if he lights the world on fire there he'd be a candidate for postseason. But not the near future.

Fischer is on a power binge, but striking out over 33% of the time in A+ ball.

My guess is the Ks are the only thing keeping him from a AA bump.

I really thought there was no chance that Fischer, Dinges, Pena, Adamczewski, and Payne would ALL still be in Appleton in June.  Thought for certain that 2-3 of them would already be in AA by Mid May.

Agreed.  As of right now, our 1-6 is locked in and stable (assuming no injuries).

Either cut Renigo or trade him for a lottery ticket.

move Ortiz and Hamilton to utility.   Pratt at SS.

A better, formidable 3B option than Renigo.

Bat Frelick 9th.   Now our 7-9 looks more studly

Arnold and Murphy are ready to have a lot of players invigorate this lineup...but not really through trades. Most deadline buyers would turnover around 15% of the roster and I am sure that Arnold and Murphy are ready to do the same...internally.

Lockridge returns and platoons with Sal...BP sent to AAA

Woo returns and moves Sproat to long relief...Woodford cut

CPratt elevated to 26man roster...Rengifo traded/waived

and Ortiz and Bunty platoon at 3B.

Logan returns, stays healthy and impresses the rest of the year cementing his rotation slot.

Koenig returns and sends DL Hall and his walks to AAA

Greg Jones, ABaddoo, and/or Matos can be cut if there is a Daniel Norris-esque addition to the 40.

Hall's walks are to high but he has been to good to send down in my opinion. 2.20 ERA is solid even if peripherals and advanced stats arent as good.

Dont forget Lara coming up for Perkins likely, as well as Jett potentially.

DL Hall could go down for a while, though... he's still performed pretty well.

I'd also send Ortiz down to AAA as he still has two options left. Let him get regular ABs there. I know I'm probably the last one, but he was a good hitter for us two years ago(good enough with his defense) and he hit on his way up. I don't believe he's this bad. I also don't believe Rengifo is this bad, but... Jett Williams is hot in Nashville, so he's got about a week to make an argument.

The only thing I'd change is Luis Lara. He's ready.
And I'd probably send Sproat down for a month or so. He may very well crank it up out of the pen where I'm sure he could sit in the 97-98 range more, but his stuff isn't the problem. It's his control.

Being that I like his upside more than Hall, I'd prefer he get sent down. Though, you could send both down, call up Yoho.

The area I'd like to see the Brewers add would be the backend of the pen. Uribe and Megill have recovered, been very good, Ashby is great, but I'd still prefer one more power righty in there(though I'd take a Chapman for a reasonable price). You have a bunch of lefties. Maybe Sproat does end up filling that role, but his command would have to improve. A LOT of teams have guys I feel like the Brewers could work with.

So my moves
Jett Williams 3B->Rengifo DFA
Pratt to SS->Ortiz to Nashville
Luis Lara to CF->Perkins DFA (Brewers think he's a GG defender there and he's a switch hitter). Garrett Mitchell- I don't know, he could be your 4th OFer or you could look to trade him. I said if he had a good year and stayed healthy, I'd definitely trade him on the off-season. Don't need to rush to do that, but his defense hasn't been as good, I don't love Chourio in CF(he's good, just not elite). I think Lara is ready.

Woodruff+Henderson->Sproat and Hall down to Nashville for the near term future.

Lockridge- I don't think people will agree, but I thought there was a little bit of fools gold there. His underlying metrics haven't been very good. His BABIP is like... .420, very low exit velo, doesn't have great defense. It's good in LF...  I don't think he's a great in CF. But, he's still hitting well, not much power, but if you get on base and have speed, it's hard to complain too much.
