With The signing of Lara, do we try to sell GM at his high point (not on the injured list)?  For me, he strikes out too much so if I could get anything worth a 1.0-1.5 WAR player back or a pretty good prospect (non top 100 somewhere in a teams 8-15 prospect list) back I would be happy.

Isn’t Garrett Mitchell nearly a 3 bWAR player this season? If he makes it to 600 PA. I understand how that sounds.

He is, and I like Mitchell. That said, his extrapolated WAR won’t necessarily mean he’s worth that much in trade. His injury history will probably erode his value some. There’s still some uncertainty. Collins was a 2 WAR outfielder for us last year and he ended up worth basically nothing - he was a throw in.

For both Mitchell and Frelick, it would depend to me on what we could get. I think it makes some sense. But I wouldn’t give either away just to make room for Lara.

An arm, either in the pen or rotation, would be helpful. Or an upgrade at utility infielder over Rengifo.

only if part of a package for a big pitcher this year. He adds value to this team, even if Lara were here, so what is the value of disrupting that.. for a small prospect theyve been getting anyways?

When Lara comes. up, Perkins goes and its likely Frelick to the bench.. and we do need that bench bat that Frelick would offer. We can effectively upgrade at all 3 spots: Lara>Mitchell, Mitchell>Frelick, Frelick>Perkins.

No reason to dump that unless you are getting a significant playoff arm in return for Frelick or Mitchell, and im sure Arnold is exploring that.

Nah. Team is winning and Mitchell is playing well. Sal playing well lately but seasons stats worse than Mitchell. Mitchell’s ceiling is higher than Sal and he at least shows some power. Mitchell or Frelick could be traded this offseason if they want to sell high on Mitchell if he stays healthy and produces but highly doubt they make a trade of one of those 2 in season and mess with the current teams mojo. Sal’s value is low rn anyways. Lara will likely only be called up soon in case of injury. Lockridge replaces Perkins soon as 4th/5th OF and Bauers will continue to get some spot OF starts to keep him in the lineup.

think most likely way to get Lara involved without an injury is to cut Sal’s playing time and make him the 4th OF playing only vs RHP if he doesn’t start hitting more. But they will give Sal some leash still after last year’s performance and Murphy and management love him.

Doubt it if the thought is to get a filler 1 WAR player or f ringe prosepct. Mitchell is a starting CF that produces, if Lara is getting playing time then Frelick is hitting the bench. I can see trading Mitchell because he is never too far from another injury but need something worthwhile in return.
