To get quality, you have to give up quality.

If the Brewers were to get an impact player or two, but you had to part with two top-10 prospects, which two would you be most willing to part with?

Rules - both prospects have to be in the top 10 of at least one of the following lists:
Brewerfanatic top prospects
MLB top 30
Fangraphs
Baseball America

You can name the target if you like, but that's optional.  You have to name the prospects, and they both need to be in the top-10 of at least one list.  And note that the lower ranked prospects you are willing to give up means a lower-impact player you get in return.

I'm parting with:

Jett Williams - teams value players closer to the majors higher than players below AA.  While Jett may be able to help this year, his lack of a defensive home raises questions.  I'm sending him for a quality 3B with multiple years of control, but only trading him for a 3B.  There's IF help behind him in Pratt, Made, and Pena.

Josh Adamczewski - really great overall hitting profile, but if he's only a LF, he's expendable.  LF is perhaps the easiest position to find hitters, and the Brewers have Chourio locked up for a long time.

(If the Brewers want a top SP, something tells me that Bishop Letson will need to be involved in the deal though.)

Williams and Dinges. Williams has underwhelmed me and I don't see him being a long term starter for the Brewers. Dinges I don't think he's going to stick at catcher and I don't think the bat is anything special if he's not a C.

It’s a little bit of a tough question for me because everything depends on what we could actually get. Like Made would normally be “untouchable” for me but then if you told me that Bobby Witt was available then Made is certainly on the table. Pratt too is someone I’d be willing to trade given the depth on the farm in the middle infield spots, and it’s not like his contract makes him untradeable but it just doesn’t make realistic sense since they clearly did it with the vision of him being a part of their future.

In a vacuum — I’d say Jett and Bishop. Maybe Fischer. I know everyone loves Fischer and I do too but I’m trying to balance keeping who I like with getting the most impact in return.

Fischer and Dinges.

Fischer is still very highly rated and his strikeout problems will only get worse. Dinges might not be able to hold up as a catcher and that decreases his value dramatically.

These guys would have to go for a controlled player, not a rental.

Made and Adamczewski might be my only untouchables. There are a lot of "I'd rather not see him traded" in the next tier down but those two are the ones I'd like to see in the big club in the future the most.

Pena for me, he's like 3ed in the list of SS maybe he takes over 2nd after Turang but where do you play him the next 3 years till he leaves.

I will put my list in a tier system.

Bobby Witt Jr multiple years of control type:

Made, Pratt, Pena, Fischer, Letson

Skubal rental type:

Williams, Lara, Quero, Dinges, Adamczewski, Adams, Payne, Ebel

Fischer is probably the biggest boom-bust guy there. I'd be OK with letting someone else take the risk that the contact issues don't improve as he goes up.

The other one is Peña. With Pratt, Made, Ebel (and for a while longer Turang) around, it's one area where you can afford to trade someone. And Peña can get us someone really good in return. I would never do it for a rental, it'd have to be a long-term type of move. Like if he's the headliner in a Yelich type trade. Not that I know who would be the Yelich in this situation.

I gotta say though, I'm generally very much a believer in holding onto them a good while longer. Especially the ones with some big, loud tools. Just like I'm OK with trading Fischer for the right return, it's still the case that other front offices will also be very well aware of the hit tool risk. And that'll be factored into the return, reducing what we get back. So with a prospect that has real risk, but also a high upside (In this case due to big time power), the best value play is really to stay the course.

Or, to give an even more generic answer: Brewers should trust their evaluations. Trade prospects if you think you're getting more in return than what you value the prospect(s) at. Keep them otherwise.

Williams-Fischer & Dinges on the positional side, Letson on the pitching.

Reasons on the positionals have already been given. Letson has big upside but durability concerns.

Losing these 4 players from the system, imo, won’t hurt the future juggernaut too much, if at all.

I'd go with Luke Adams as one of the guys I'm ok with trading.

Super nice kid, talked to him several times in Appleton, just a great person, but we simply do not have room for Luke, Burke and Fischer at 1B (assuming Fischer doesn't stick at 3B with Made more than likely taking that position)

Would hate to see Letson go but add him to my list for all the reasons stated above.  I'd hang onto Hardin, and begrudgingly allow Letson to go. :(

Made is obvious. But not trading Pena either unless for a legit controllable star.

We have a multitude of back half of top 100 guys that can be made available for the right player.

I'm never much for trading prospects, but I could see a need to trade prospect depth for other prospects. I'd go for trading Jett for a catching prospect like Briceno or a SP prospect.

1. Jett.   He has been inconsistent and doesn't really have a spot longterm. If he still has top 100 value he is #1.

2. Dinges.  The bat has seemingly stalled in low A at 22. I think there is still alot of potential but I worry that he still has a long way to climb.

3. Fischer.  Strikeouts and defense, I think ultimately he is a 1st baseman. With the strikeouts so high in high A, one cant help but be concerned. I would be hesitant to trade a 30+ HR, I would only trade him for a high end player with multi years of control.
